Preschool Circus Coach (Training Provided)
Position Title: Studio Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Refuge Aerial Fitness & Performance, LLC
Reports To: Studio Owner & Preschool Program Lead Coach
Compensation: $15/hour, to increase when moved into Lead Coach role.
Schedule: 1-3 hours per week for the first 3 months. We anticipate one weekly class on Thursdays at 4:30 starting in September. Training time to be scheduled separately upon availability.
Position Overview:
Refuge Aerial is looking for an energetic, dependable instructor to join our team and train to lead our new Circus Foundations class for children ages 4–6. This class introduces young students to acrobatic fundamentals, circus arts, movement, and aerial foundations in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.
This is a paid training position designed for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to develop specialized coaching skills in aerial and circus arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Shadow experienced instructors during classes.
Assist with class setup, instruction, spotting, and cleanup.
Learn Refuge Aerial's curriculum, teaching methods, and safety standards.
Build positive relationships with students and families.
Progress toward independently leading Circus Foundations classes.
Opportunities to teach circus camps during school breaks
Qualifications:
Preferred
Experience in gymnastics, dance, cheer, aerial arts, or another movement discipline.
Experience working with children ages 4–6.
Required
Reliable, punctual, and professional. Has reliable transportation.
Positive, patient, and enthusiastic with young children.
Strong communication skills.
Willingness to learn aerial and circus instruction techniques.
Ability to actively move, spot students, and demonstrate basic physical skills.
Completion of required job shadowing and instructor training before teaching independently.
Must pass a background check
Training:
No prior aerial or circus coaching experience is required. Refuge Aerial will provide hands-on training in aerial foundations, circus skills, spotting, classroom management, lesson planning, and safety procedures.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching young children and wants to grow into a long-term coaching position with opportunities for increased responsibility, additional teaching hours, and higher pay.
